This is my brothers fish tank- it’s like 1.5-2 gallon bowl 😦 in the pic there is no water or fish In it because he’s “cleaning” it. The fish is in a little plastic bin that’s probably bigger than this tank. I’ve asked him to make it bigger and he says it won’t fit in his room anymore. I keep telling him that you can MAKE room and he says no. He said the most I can do is make it look pretty on the inside but like…. Not sure how. I could add sand take out the fake plant and put a real one in and put some river rocks in (as well as take out the hoop thing)

  1. Absolutely no fish can thrive in a bowl, he either needs to suck it up and get a real tank or surrender his fish, which i doubt he will do.

I hope he one day comes around and sees that this is abuse):

Fully cleaning the tank strips it of beneficial bacteria too, so not only is he subjecting this fish to a small, confined area but also disrupting the cycle so that if he skips a day of cleaning it will just accumulate ammonia and severely burn the fish.

Won’t fit in the room? Bro needs to move the crocs or some 😭🙏

Betta need 5 gallons at least. Ask him if he actually cares about his fish or if he’s okay with it basically living in a water closet that it also pees and poops in. It’s like keeping a dog in a kennel where it also has to use the bathroom in. Just because fish can’t scream doesn’t mean they are not suffering. The fact that they can’t tell us if they’re in pain is even more reason to take the best care we can offer them..

People who do this genuinely need to understand smaller bowls are way more maintenance than a bigger cycled tank. I feel like the only reason someone would put their fish through this is because they think it’s easier, but it’s so much more work and then your fish suffer and die and it’s exhausting. I really hope he upgrades and can cycle the tank properly before adding fish, or at least thoroughly researches a fish in cycle to make it as humane as possible
